It’s no secret that I absolutely love designing custom bridal jewelry. Every bride brings a unique vision to the table, and my favorite part of the process is translating that vision into jewelry that feels deeply personal. When Amy, a space-loving bride, came to me with her fiancé Christian—a NASA man himself—I knew this wedding would be a creative challenge unlike any other. Their request? Bridal, but make it space-themed.
A Weekend Full of Celebration
Amy and Christian chose an intimate waterfront wedding in Orlando, Florida, surrounded by their closest family and friends. The celebration unfolded across the entire weekend: a Friday night ceremony in the park, a relaxed backyard brunch, a Saturday evening dinner, and finally, a farewell brunch on Sunday. True to her vibrant spirit, Amy wore a different white dress for each event, each one calling for its own jewelry design.
Designing the Space-Themed Bridal Collection
When it came time to create her custom pieces, I wanted the designs to reflect both the couple’s personalities and the celestial theme without feeling overdone. Since neither Amy nor Christian are particularly traditional, leaning too heavily into classic pearls wasn’t the right fit. Instead, I used pearls, moonstones, and shell stars in fresh, modern ways to bring a light, cosmic touch to each look.
The Ceremony Necklace
For her most formal piece, I designed a necklace with delicate rice pearls—not the country club kind, but organic and beachy—paired with celestial charms. A removable margarita charm added a playful nod to the couple’s fun-loving nature.
The Starry Gold Necklace
To complement another dress, I created a necklace featuring shell stars, this time set on gold instead of silver. A shimmering gold moon charm and an iridescent crystal added just the right amount of sparkle. For versatility, I included two interchangeable charms: a parrot for tiki night and a pink champagne bottle for her bridal luncheon.
Earrings with a Celestial Twist
No bridal jewelry set is complete without earrings. The first pair featured faceted moonstone posts with dainty pearl chains ending in shell stars—lightweight, asymmetrical, and effortlessly celestial. The second pair was a symbolic design: faux pearl studs with gold-tone rays, representing the sun shining on their marriage.
A Joyful Collaboration
Amy and Christian’s main goal for their wedding weekend was simple: to have fun and celebrate with the people they love most. Designing these pieces to match their energy was a privilege, and it reminded me why I adore custom bridal work. The creative challenge of weaving together space-themed details, timeless bridal elegance, and personal symbolism made this project one I’ll never forget.
If you’re a bride looking to tell your love story through custom wedding jewelry, I’d love to bring your vision to life. From modern pearls to celestial charms (and everything in between), I design jewelry that reflects you.
Cheers!
